Trustees Focus on Ramp Construction After Council Advances Additional Funds

Following the public notification of our resource consent in February and the subsequent submissions, the Māpua Community Boat Ramp Trust has been actively working to address the community’s feedback.

In April, the Trust applied to the Tasman District Council for additional funding to support the consenting process. While the Council initially expressed concerns about allocating more funds for consenting rather than construction, they agreed in July to advance a further $150,000 to facilitate the hearing process.

In response to the feedback received, the Trustees have decided to prioritise the construction of the boat ramp and set aside plans for a new community building. As a result, the current parking area will remain unchanged. Revised plans, excluding the building, have been submitted to the engineers last week.

Council staff will soon be contacting objectors who wish to be heard, to inform them of this update. The Council has scheduled the hearing to take place from November 18th to 20th, where submitters will have the opportunity to present their views.

With the hearing date approaching, the Trust encourages those who support the project to consider making a donation. Your contributions are vital to ensuring the success of this long-awaited project. Without your support, the opportunity to secure a replacement boat ramp for Māpua could be lost.

Donations are tax-deductible and can be made directly to the Trust’s account:
