Māpua Community Boat Ramp

The Māpua Community Boat Ramp will provide our community with safe access to the beautiful Tasman Bay and Waimea Estuary


The Māpua Community Boat Ramp is a three-year project that will provide safe access to the sea for all members of the community to enjoy. This estimated $2.95 million project is being partially funded by the Tasman District Council, with remaining funds being raised from the community. Donations are fully tax-deductible.

Meet the Trustees

Trevor Marshall
Trevor has a wealth of experience in the construction industry and was a Senior Police Officer for 24 years. As Project Coordinator Trevor led the effort in raising $2.2 million for the redevelopment of Rotoiti Lodge Outdoor Education Centre. He has volunteered on numerous other community projects including building projects in Nepal and Fiji and as Chairman for the Nelson Santa Parade Trust. He lives in Ruby Bay and is passionate about water activities and encouraging youth to spend time enjoying the amazing natural environment of the region.

Mike Kininmonth
After dedicating himself to local government for over 20 years, Mike successfully established several small businesses with his wife. Today he is an active retiree, volunteering for community organisations and projects such as the Māpua Community Association. Mike has always loved boats and is excited about a quality new boat ramp for the community.

Jenny Marchbanks
Jenny’s commitment to Māpua began with her involvement with a number of community organisations, most recently the Māpua Boat Club. She is a successful business woman, holding a variety of positions over the years. She is dedicated to providing sea access to the maritime community, and treasures Māpua’s wharf area as a vibrant community space.

Andrew Butler
Andrew spent his early years in business in the rural sector, farming, and directing companies he was involved with, as well as being a Trustee of various causes. As a local Māpua resident he’s become the Commodore of the Māpua Boat Club. He’s an advocate for providing safe and equitable access to the water for current and future generations.
