In January 2023 the Māpua Community Boat Ramp Trust conducted a community survey of opinions about the boat ramp and community facility building to house the Tamaha Sea Scouts and their boat storage.
Overall 589 households were visited with the survey and invited to participate. Of those households, 87% were in support of the boat ramp and community facility building. When looking at individual respondents, 95% of individuals were in support, 3% were not in support, and 2% of individuals were undecided or didn’t sign.
Interestingly, 34% of households had boats, and 43% did not have boats, so it is not only boat owners who are in support of the project.
The results of this survey will be used in the resource consent application.
